Like all Brides, when I was preparing for the wedding I was trying to slim down and tone up! I regularly did high impact cardio, long distance running and weight training, but thought I needed to switch it up. Many people rave about yoga, but I wasn’t sure if it would be challenging enough – in my mind it seemed easy. I was SO wrong – I loved yoga. It worked every muscle in my body and was very challenging – I also noticed my muscles were longer and leaner.
If you are looking to slim down and lean up, try yoga. I also have tried Hot Yoga, which is when the yoga studio is over 90 degrees. Hot Yoga is much harder because you are in a much more intense element, but you sweat so much and feel amazing afterwards. Definitely takes a little bit to get use to the heat.
It can be hard to find a quality yoga instructor. My favorite instructor was at the 24 hour fitness in Santa Monica. His name is Skip and he is a phenomenal instructor. Goes to show you that you can get a good yoga class out of a regular gym. Also, keep your eyes pealed for coupons through groupon, etc for yoga studios in your area.
Always remember don’t set unrealistic expectations. You want to look like yourself on your wedding day.. don’t go overboard on the diet and weight loss. It’s supposed to be an enjoyable time in your life!
